I had a vision again with my left over cardboard boxes! lol! I cut out tile like shapes and had my student write the sounds on the tiles and points on each. I showed her 3 different ways she can play the scrabble game:
1. Traditional Scrabble - 2 players pick 14 tiles and start connecting words to each other. Record the points and highest points will win the game.
2. Scrabble Pictionary - choose 15 tiles and start making words and draw pics of them.
3. Word Brainstorming - 1-4 players choose 14 tiles and make as many word combinations as possible. See who has a longer list. Record the points and the highest point will win or have a goal and first person who gets the amount will win.
Scrabble is a great way to practice putting sounds together and making words. It builds phonemic awareness/ vocabulary building. Having their own personalized scrabble game makes it fun, you can add to it as the child learns more sounds.
